It takes sometimes a few attempts to get a specific style for a book down. Below you can see how one of the drawings for my latest children's book THE CHOCOLATE CLOUDS developed over the months.
The first drawing was showing all the characters equally strong. There was no clear emphasis on one character. The black and white pencil lines were equally distributed.
In the second drawing I faded the background, making it less important and making the characters stronger.
In the final drawing I changed the entire setting, turning the back of one of the characters toward us. This made the scene more vivid and distracted less from the other characters. I even changed the goblin completely and designed him new, making him more friendly.
